About

Welcome to Deb’s Quill

One original short story at the beginning of every month. Character-driven fiction, mostly rooted in Canada, about the moments that bend, break, or save us. Always free.

What you’ll find here

Every story is complete, written to be read in a single sitting, and built around one person at a turning point.

A young man who finds a key he was never meant to find. A widow trying to bring her husband home on the Night of the Dead. A love story told through a strange, beautiful instrument that binds a family together for a lifetime. The settings change and the genres wander, from quiet literary moments to ghost stories, but the heart of every story stays the same: ordinary people facing the moment that changes everything.

Who it’s for

Readers who love short fiction with emotional weight. People who want a story that stays with them, not just a quick distraction. And anyone who’s ever looked back on a single moment and thought, that was when everything changed.

About me

Deborah Sarty, Canadian writer and author of Deb's Quill

I’m Deborah Sarty, a Canadian writer. Before turning to fiction full time, I spent years in injury claims and international management, which means I’ve heard a lot of people describe the worst, strangest, and most surprising days of their lives. Those stories never left me.
